Firmographics are descriptive facts about a company, the business equivalent of demographics. They're the filters most lead lists are built from.
Common firmographics
- Industry and sub-industry.
- Number of employees.
- Revenue, or funding stage.
- Headquarters and office locations.
- Company age and growth (for example, headcount growth this year).
- Business model: B2B or B2C, product or services.
How they're used
Firmographics turn an ideal customer profile into a search: "marketing agencies in the UK with 10 to 50 employees". They decide which companies you contact; job titles then decide which person.
Their limits
Two companies with identical firmographics can have very different needs. Add a signal of need, such as a trigger event or a tool they use, for a list that replies. Related: technographics (the tools a company uses) and intent data.
