Account-based lists
Many lead tools search by company domain. Turning a list of contacts or website links into unique domains gives you the list of companies to search, so you can find more people at each one, or the right person when your contact has left.
Exclusion lists
A list of your customers' domains lets you make sure no campaign emails a company you already work with. A list of competitors' domains keeps them out of your campaigns too. Both are a domain list, not a list of individual addresses.
Skip personal mailboxes
Addresses at gmail.com or outlook.com don't tell you the company, and you never want to exclude all of Gmail. Keep 'skip personal mailboxes' on unless you're cleaning a consumer list. Personal addresses still matter as contacts; they're just useless as company domains.
Company names are a guess
We turn acme-labs.com into Acme Labs, which is right most of the time. Short or stylised names won't be (ibm.com becomes Ibm), so check the names before using them in an email's first line.
From domains to a lead list
A list of domains is the starting point for finding the right people. Search each company in your lead tool by its domain, filter by job title, and you have contacts at exactly the companies you chose. This works well for account-based outreach, where you pick fifty companies that fit and reach two or three people at each. Domains also de-duplicate well: one company can appear under many contacts, but only once as a domain. Check the domains first: a domain with no website or mail server usually means the company has closed or been bought, and our MX Record Lookup shows whether it still receives email. Then add a column saying how you found each company, so you can personalise the first line around it.
In mailzy
Never email a customer by mistake.
mailzy's blocklist keeps domains and addresses you exclude out of every campaign, and stops sequences when someone replies.
Questions before you start.
Ask us on the chat if yours isn't here. A real person answers.
Does it handle URLs with paths?
Yes. https://www.acme.com/about/team becomes acme.com.
Why are some addresses missing?
Personal mailboxes like Gmail are skipped by default, and anything that isn't a valid domain is ignored.
Is anything uploaded?
No. It runs in your browser.
