PR pitch to a journalist

Pitch a story to a journalist who covers your topic, with the news in the subject line.

Subject
[the news, in a few words]
Email
Hi {{firstName | there}},

I read your piece on {{article_topic}}, so I thought this might be useful for your coverage.

[The news, in two sentences: what happened, why it matters now, with a number if you have one].

I can share [data, an interview, images or early access]. Would this fit something you're working on?

{{sendingAccountFirstName}}
Follow-up 1
Hi {{firstName | there}}, one more detail that might help the story: [an extra data point or quote].
Follow-up 2
Hi {{firstName | there}}, if this isn't for you, is there a colleague who covers [topic]?

How to use this template

  1. Replace every [bracketed] part with something true about you or the person you're writing to.
  2. Give every {{field}} beyond the standard ones (first name, company) its own column in your lead list, or a fallback after a bar. In mailzy, a lead whose field is empty and has no fallback waits instead of going out with a gap.
  3. Send the follow-ups as replies in the same thread. We wait 3, 5 and 7 days between them.
  4. Check how it reads for real leads with the merge tag preview, and send it to yourself first.
  5. Test it on a few hundred people in one niche and judge it by replies, not opens.

Everything for cold email, in one place.
