Email after a LinkedIn connection

Follow a new LinkedIn connection with a short email that builds on it, instead of a pitch in DMs.

Subject
thanks for connecting
Email
Hi {{firstName | there}},

Thanks for connecting on LinkedIn. I enjoyed {{linkedin_detail}}

I work with [the kind of company you help] on [what you do]. Not pitching anything big, but I'd be glad to swap notes on [a shared topic] if you're open to a short call.

Follow-up 1
Hi {{firstName | there}}, thought you might find this useful: [a resource relevant to their work].
Follow-up 2
Hi {{firstName | there}}, are you around for 15 minutes in the next couple of weeks?
Follow-up 3
Hi {{firstName | there}}, no worries if not. Good to be connected.

How to use this template

  1. Replace every [bracketed] part with something true about you or the person you're writing to.
  2. Give every {{field}} beyond the standard ones (first name, company) its own column in your lead list, or a fallback after a bar. In mailzy, a lead whose field is empty and has no fallback waits instead of going out with a gap.
  3. Send the follow-ups as replies in the same thread. We wait 3, 5 and 7 days between them.
  4. Check how it reads for real leads with the merge tag preview, and send it to yourself first.
  5. Test it on a few hundred people in one niche and judge it by replies, not opens.

Everything for cold email, in one place.
