First lines

Write a personal first line

A one-sentence opener about the prospect's company, from what you know about them.

The prompt
Write the first line of a cold email to {{first_name}}, the {{title}} at {{company}}.

What we know about them: {{company_description}}. Recent news: {{recent_news}}.

Rules:
- One sentence, under 20 words.
- About them, not about us. No compliments like "I love what you're doing".
- Mention one specific, true detail from the information above. Don't invent anything.
- Plain, friendly tone, as if written by a person who looked them up.

Return only the sentence.
Example of what it writes
Saw Northwind just opened a second office in Austin, which usually means outbound gets busier fast.

How to use this prompt

  1. Copy it into any AI tool, such as ChatGPT or Claude.
  2. Replace each {{field}} with real details about you and the person you're writing to. The more specific they are, the less generic the result.
  3. Check every fact, name and number in what comes back: AI can sound sure about things that aren't true.
  4. Cut it down if it runs long. A cold email reads best under about 75 words.
  5. Send it to yourself and read it on your phone before anyone else sees it.
