An email sequence is a set of emails sent to each person automatically on a schedule: a first email, then follow-ups a few days apart. Each person moves through it on their own, and the sequence stops for anyone who replies.
A typical cold email sequence
- The first email: who you are, why them, one question.
- Follow-up 1, three days later: a short nudge, ideally with something new.
- Follow-up 2, five days after that: a different angle, such as a result or an example.
- Follow-up 3, a week later: a polite close, leaving the door open.
The gaps grow so the emails feel patient rather than pushy.
What makes one work
- Follow-ups in the same thread, so the history is visible.
- Stopping the moment someone replies, from any mailbox.
- Each step adding something, never just "bumping this".
- Three or four follow-ups at most; more brings complaints.
In mailzy, a campaign is a sequence of steps with waits and A/B variants; replies stop it automatically.
