Research a prospect from their website

Turn a company's website text into a short brief: what they do, who for, and a likely need.

The prompt
Here is the text of a company's website:

{{website_text}}

We sell: {{what_we_sell}}.

Write a brief for a cold email, in four short lines:
1. What the company does, in plain words.
2. Who their customers are.
3. One thing that suggests they might need what we sell, quoting the website.
4. One question we could ask them.

Use only what's in the text. If something isn't there, write "not stated". Don't guess.
Example of what it writes
1. Northwind builds booking software for physiotherapy clinics.
2. Independent clinics with 2-10 practitioners.
3. Their careers page lists three open sales roles ('we're growing our sales team').
4. How are you finding clinics to talk to while the new team ramps up?

How to use this prompt

  1. Copy it into any AI tool, such as ChatGPT or Claude.
  2. Replace each {{field}} with real details about you and the person you're writing to. The more specific they are, the less generic the result.
  3. Check every fact, name and number in what comes back: AI can sound sure about things that aren't true.
  4. Cut it down if it runs long. A cold email reads best under about 75 words.
  5. Send it to yourself and read it on your phone before anyone else sees it.
