Reply when you reached the wrong person

Thank someone who says they're not the right contact, and ask who is.

The prompt
A prospect replied that they're not the right person:

"{{reply}}"

Write a short reply. Rules:
- Thank them for answering.
- Ask, lightly, who the right person is, or if they'd forward a two-line note (include that note).
- Under 60 words, including the forwardable note.
Example of what it writes
Thanks for letting me know, Sara. Who'd be best to speak to about new-client outreach? If easier, feel free to forward this: "We help agencies add a steady flow of meetings from cold email; happy to share how in 15 minutes."

How to use this prompt

  1. Copy it into any AI tool, such as ChatGPT or Claude.
  2. Replace each {{field}} with real details about you and the person you're writing to. The more specific they are, the less generic the result.
  3. Check every fact, name and number in what comes back: AI can sound sure about things that aren't true.
  4. Cut it down if it runs long. A cold email reads best under about 75 words.
  5. Send it to yourself and read it on your phone before anyone else sees it.
