Reply to a 'not right now'

A polite answer to a prospect who says the timing is wrong, that keeps the door open.

The prompt
A prospect replied to our cold email:

"{{reply}}"

Write a short, warm answer. Rules:
- Thank them, don't argue, and don't pitch again.
- Ask one light question that helps us know when to come back (for example, when they plan next quarter).
- Offer to check back at a specific time.
- Under 50 words.

Return only the reply.
Example of what it writes
Thanks for letting me know, Sara. Makes sense with the Austin launch. When do you usually plan the next quarter? I'll check back then, and won't fill your inbox before.

How to use this prompt

  1. Copy it into any AI tool, such as ChatGPT or Claude.
  2. Replace each {{field}} with real details about you and the person you're writing to. The more specific they are, the less generic the result.
  3. Check every fact, name and number in what comes back: AI can sound sure about things that aren't true.
  4. Cut it down if it runs long. A cold email reads best under about 75 words.
  5. Send it to yourself and read it on your phone before anyone else sees it.
