What a listing means.
What the result means, and how to fix what it finds.
What blocklists check
Blocklists (also called blacklists or DNSBLs) are lists of addresses that have sent spam. Mail servers look up the sending server's address on them, and a listing can send your email to spam or get it rejected. We ask five lists that answer public checks: Barracuda, UCEPROTECT Level 1, Mailspike, PSBL and Backscatterer.
Domains vs. addresses
These lists check IP addresses. When you enter a domain, we check the address its website points to. If your mailboxes are on Google Workspace or Microsoft 365, your email is sent from their servers, not yours, so your own server's listing rarely matters for cold email. What matters more is your domain's reputation.
'Couldn't check' is not 'clean'
Sometimes a list doesn't answer in time. We show that as couldn't check, never as not listed, because a missing answer says nothing. Lists like Spamhaus only answer paying subscribers' servers, so they aren't checked here; look a domain up at check.spamhaus.org.
If you're listed
Stop sending from the listed address first. Find the cause: a bought list with dead addresses, a hacked form or account, or sending too much too fast. Fix it, then request removal using the link on each listing. Asking while the problem continues usually fails, and some lists remove you automatically after a quiet spell.
Keeping off the lists
Most listings come from the same few causes, so prevention is simple. Verify every list before sending, so bounces stay under 2%. Never buy lists that promise millions of contacts. Warm up new mailboxes before campaigns and grow volume slowly. Keep each mailbox to a few dozen cold emails a day. Make opting out easy, so people unsubscribe instead of reporting you. And watch for spam traps: old, abandoned addresses that some lists reuse to catch senders who don't clean their lists. Hitting one is a strong sign your list is stale. Check your domains on a schedule, not only when replies dry up.
In mailzy
Blocklists watched for every domain.
mailzy checks the domains you send from against blocklists every day and tells you the moment one is listed.
Questions before you start.
Ask us on the chat if yours isn't here. A real person answers.
Why don't you check Spamhaus?
Spamhaus only answers checks from registered servers, so results from a free public tool would be wrong. Check a domain directly at check.spamhaus.org.
Does one listing matter?
It depends on the list. A Barracuda listing affects many corporate mail servers; smaller lists matter less. Any listing is a sign to look at how you're sending.
How long does delisting take?
From minutes to a week, depending on the list and whether the cause is fixed.
