This policy covers Comments Generator, the extension for Google Chrome made by mailzy.us (Chrome Web Store item ID loacpoklnpcphnfhjakfjlkimpilleij). It explains what data the extension handles, why, who it is shared with, and how long it is kept.
The extension helps you write comments for LinkedIn posts. You paste the text of a post into the extension's side panel, choose a tone and a length, and it writes a comment that you can copy.
What the extension does not do
- It does not read the pages you visit, your LinkedIn account or your browsing history. It has no access to websites at all: it only sees the text you paste into it yourself.
- It does not post anything to LinkedIn or anywhere else for you.
- It does not ask for your name, email address or payment details.
- It does not sell your data, show ads, or use your data for advertising, profiling or credit decisions.
- It contains no analytics or tracking code.
Data the extension handles
| Data | Why | Where it goes |
|---|---|---|
| The post text you paste, and the previous comment when you ask for another version | To write the comment | Sent to OpenAI with each request. We do not receive or keep it. |
| Your "About you and your style" notes, if you write any (for example your job title) | To write comments from your point of view | Stored in your browser and sent to OpenAI with each request |
| Your own OpenAI API key, if you add one | To write unlimited comments billed to your own OpenAI account | Stored in your browser and sent only to OpenAI. Never sent to us. |
| Your license key | To confirm the license is valid and in use on one device at a time | Stored in your browser and sent to our license service |
| A random ID created when the extension is installed | To tell your device apart for the one-device rule, and as an anonymous safety identifier that helps OpenAI spot abuse | Sent to our license service and to OpenAI. It is not linked to your name or email. |
| A device label such as "Chrome on macOS", and the extension's version number | To show which device holds a license when you ask us for help | Sent to our license service, which keeps the label. The version is not stored. |
| How many comments your license wrote today | To apply the daily limit of 50 included comments | Counted by our license service against your license key. Each day's count replaces the previous one. |
| Your preferences (tone, length, paragraphs), the current draft and the latest comment | To remember your settings and keep your work if you close the panel | Stay in your browser. The draft and the latest comment are cleared when Chrome closes. |
For each license in use, our license service keeps: the license key, the random device ID, the device label, when the license was activated on that device, when it was last checked, and that day's comment count. It does not record your IP address.
Service providers
- OpenAI writes the comments. The extension asks OpenAI not to store each request, and OpenAI handles API data under its own terms: OpenAI Privacy Policy.
- Google hosts our license service on Google Apps Script, and the license records are kept in our Google account: Google Privacy Policy.
We share data with these providers only to run the features described above. As with any connection over the internet, they see your IP address when the extension contacts them. All connections use HTTPS.
The use of information received through Comments Generator adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Links to mailzy.us and WhatsApp
- The side panel shows occasional tips and links about mailzy.us products. These links are tagged so our website can tell the visit came from the extension. Nothing is sent unless you click a link, and the close button on a tip hides it for a few days.
- When you uninstall the extension, Chrome opens a mailzy.us page, tagged the same way.
- The "Buy a license" and "Help" links open WhatsApp with a message already written. Nothing is sent unless you send it, and WhatsApp's own privacy policy applies to that chat.
How long data is kept
- Everything stored in your browser stays until you remove it or uninstall the extension. You can clear your notes or remove your API key in Settings at any time.
- A license record is kept while the license is active on a device. Clicking Remove under Settings, License deletes the device record straight away.
- OpenAI keeps request data only as its own policies allow.
Your choices and rights
You can use the extension without writing style notes or adding an API key. You can ask us what our license service holds about your license, or ask us to delete it, at any time: email hello@mailzy.us with your license key so we can find the record.
Children
The extension is made for professionals using LinkedIn and is not directed at children under 16.
